Whew! I just finished my first week at the new job, and I LOVE it! The worst part isn't that bad, and the best part if fabulous. It is exhausting, though.

I just got a call from the National Archives security guy. He got my security clearance papers back today and, in his words, "I have adjudicated it 'sufficient.'" Which means I passed. Which means, theoretically, the NPS can give me a written offer for the job. God only knows why it took so long.

( In thanks and gratitude I'm passing on to you folks the recipe for popovers that I cooked last night--the first time I've made them that they've been absolutely perfect. )

Um, I think.  They called a minute ago to make sure I was still interested, and I said yes, so they're writing up a tentative offer, dependent on my passing the standard background check, which I can't imagine not doing.

Oh, this is absurd!

I live in Tevas or the like. My feet and toes started getting cramps yesterday evening and kept it up all night and, in fact, are still doing it on occasion.
